Bio


Douglas Pugar, DO, is a board-certified neurologist at the Dayton Center for Neurological Disorders (DCND), which provides neurology services to adults in Centerville, Beavercreek, Springfield, Eaton, Wilmington, Hillsboro, and Vandalia, Ohio.

Dr. Pugar went to college at Ohio University in Athens, earning his Bachelor of Science in chemistry. After graduation, he enrolled at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy. Before joining DCND, he completed residency training at Kettering Health Dayton (formerly Grandview Medical Center) in Ohio. 

Dr. Pugar is trained in all aspects of neurology, but he has a special interest in helping patients with their dementia/Alzheimer’s, concussion, and headache diagnoses. His knowledge and expertise allow him to develop personalized care programs that minimize symptoms and improve the quality of life for his patients. 

Dr. Pugar is passionate about medical education and teaching. As the director of the Grandview Hospital Neurology Residency Program, he regularly mentors and teaches medical students, residents, and fellow physicians on various neurological topics. He also contributes to medical publications, writing summary articles on topics like dementia. 

Dr. Pugar enjoys public speaking. He often offers lectures on various neurological topics to medical students and the community. He strongly believes in taking time to listen to patients and help them understand their diagnosis so they can work together as a team to improve their quality of life.

Dr. Pugar is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. He also is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Pugar enjoys spending time with his wife and children outside of work. He also plays guitar and loves golfing and snowboarding.
